We are an insured and bonded collection agency incorporated and licensed by

at 741 Sesame Street. Mattson Investigations provides effective third party
collections for a variety of businesses in Alaska and the lower 48 states, from medical
providers to utility services.
Mattson Investigations is a member of ACA International -

Commonly Asked Questions about our company.....
Q: What makes Mattson Investigations different from other
collection agencies in Alaska?
A: 1. We do one thing at Mattson Investigations - Collections.
While other agencies focus on trying to provide a variety of
unrelated services or promise more than they can deliver, our focus
is debt recovery for our clients.
2. Our collections software is a modern, flexible, operating
system that is user friendly and works in a Windows™ based computing
environment. In addition, we are able to incorporate into our
operating system a variety of modern Internet based methods for
locating debtors as well as traditional “skip-tracing” tools.
3. On average our telephone collection representatives have more
collections experience than any other agency in Alaska. By offering
a respectful and relaxed work environment, we are able to reduce
turnover and retain good collectors. In addition to bonuses, our
telephone representatives’ salaries relate directly to the amount
they collect every month
Q: Is there a cost for using Mattson Investigations for the
collection of our bad debt accounts?
A: There is no cost for using our services.
Mattson Investigations only retains a percentage of each delinquent
account we collect. Beware of firms that
charge for collection services.
Q: What “rate” do you charge for the collection of our accounts?
A: Our rates are fair, and fall within the collection industry
standard. Again, beware that some agencies charge a low rate, but in
the end do not produce the desired results for you. If you are
offered a low rate but not the desired results, you’ve gained nothing
and may even lose money.
Q: At what time do you recommend that we turn over our bad debt
accounts to collections?
A: That is dependent
on your accounts receivable policy or in
house collection procedures. Some firms turn accounts over to
collection at 60 days and older, others at 90 days and older.
Q: We are not satisfied with our current in-house collections or
the collection agency we use now. What do you recommend as a
solution?
A: You may consider us to replace the current collection agency
you use or you may even turn over some of your accounts to us to
establish a working relationship. These days many companies now use
two collection agencies for their collections, splitting up bad debt
accounts by alphabet or dollar amount. This is especially good
advice for utilities and medical providers.
Q: Is Mattson Investigations HIPPA compliant?
A: Yes. And we continue to handle all our medical accounts with
the sensitivity and understanding our clients would expect from us.
Q: How do we turn over our bad debt accounts to Mattson
Investigations?
A: We accept new accounts by mail, in person, through the
Internet and by email.
Q: Does Mattson Investigations report to the major credit
bureaus?
A: Yes. We report to
all three major credit repositories in the United States: Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union.
Q: My debtor has moved out of the state/country. Can Mattson still
collect on this account?
A: Yes. If your debtor “skips” to the lower 48 or even an other
country, we can still contact the debtor and we can still collect on the account using our collections resources
and strategic alliances.
Q: Does Mattson Investigations collect on bad checks?
A: Yes
Q: Does Mattson Investigations accept “forward accounts”?
A: Yes. We accept forward accounts from any agency in the United
States and overseas.
Q: After Mattson Investigations collects a payment from our
debtor, when does our company receive its portion?
A: We issue payment to our clients
at the beginning of each and every month.
Q: We would like to use your company to recover our bad debt.
What do we do now?
A: Contact us today
at 907.258.1555 or 1.800.770.4111 or send us and
email.
Commonly Asked Questions about
Collections.....
Q. What are the hours a collection agency can contact a debtor?
A: Monday through Sunday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.,
in the time zone the debtor resides or works in.
Q. Is it possible to collect a debt that a minor incurs?
A: Yes. In many cases the minor's legal guardian or
parents will be responsible for the repayment of a delinquent obligation.
Q. Are collection agencies permitted to contact a debtor at work?
A: Yes. There are no federal or state laws that forbid a
collection agency from contacting a debtor at work.
Q. How does a divorce decree affect the ability to collect a debt
incurred before a divorce?
A: A divorce decree is a legal agreement between a husband and

for a debt, these issues need to be resolved between the husband and wife.
Q. Does Mattson Investigations work with debt management or credit
counseling companies?
A: Yes. We work with all debt management and
credit counseling companies in the United States.
Q: What are the laws that govern collections?
A: Collections agencies are governed by the Fair Credit Reporting
Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and HIPAA (Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) as well as applicable state laws.
Q. Is there anyway of collecting a debt once someone files bankruptcy?
A: Bankruptcy falls under
federal laws which allows individuals to seek relief from creditors and gives
the individual a second chance financially. In most cases it is not possible to
collect on, or recover a debt once the debtor seeks bankruptcy protection.
Q: If my customer does not pay his account voluntarily in
collections, can legal action be brought against him?
A: Yes. In most circumstances legal action can be brought against
an individual who resides anywhere in the state of Alaska or outside the state.
